President’s Message

Hi All –March President's Message Pic

As I’m typing this, the sun is shining, it’s supposed to be in the 60’s today and I’m in Capri pants, enjoying the nice weather, wishing I was outside or back in Washington DC. I missed last meeting due to my advocacy work with the Arthritis Foundation, but I love talking to legislators about the priorities of the AF and even getting a picture or two!  What are you passionate about and in what do you devote your time?

As volunteer administrators, we are blessed to see our volunteers, who are passionate about our agencies so much that they devote their time, talent and treasures. It’s always nice for me to meet my agency volunteers and listen to the stories of how their experience with my agency has made a difference. For example, I was talking to a volunteer who recently was downsized from a position she had for a very long time. Because of health issues, she decided to retire after this event and decided to volunteer to stay active. She said that volunteering in our pantry has brought so much joy into her life, something she hadn’t realized was missing. It makes my heart sing when I hear these types of stories and it makes the work that I do in the volunteer area so worthwhile. I know you have all gotten this same type of feedback!

I hope you are all able to come to the April 19th meeting so you can learn more about working with the Millennial Generation. Most of the training will be a video-taped presentation that I attended several months ago featuring Derrick Feldman of the Millennial Impact Project, so you will get high-level training (at no extra cost)! I’ll add a few things in there, but most will come straight from a man who has devoted many years studying this age group.

I look forward to seeing you,

Cathy
